…set to commission 60 Nigeria -for- Women projects, flag off more road construction
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reiterated his commitment to the peace and unity of the State, maintaining that he is Governor for all its people, regardless of their political affiliations.
The Governor stated this at the July Edition of Government House covenant service held at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo, July 1, 2025.
He noted that though elected through the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and now in the All Progressives Congress (APC), he was elected to serve the whole State, irrespective of political affiliations.
The Governor who intentionally referred to Chairmen of the different Political Parties in attendance at the service as “Chairman of our party,” said he is a Governor serving the general interest of the State.
He appreciated everyone for their support, especially during the activities marking the progressive movement.
“Let me take this opportunity to thank the people of Akwa Ibom State for the support given to us so far, especially during our recent movement to the APC, without record of any sad occurrence. We are very grateful to God and to you.
“We have moved from politics, and we are now back to governance. work has started again. Please, let us get back to work.
“Tomorrow, we are flagging off road constructions, and within the month, we will be commissioning many others,” he stated.
He said that the Office of the First Lady will soon start the sensitization of women across the 31 Local Government Areas of the State adding “The Office of the First Lady will be working with wives of Chairmen of Local Government Areas to sensitize our women across party-lines by bringing them together through Co-operatives and seminars.
“We will be using the period also to commission the Nigerian-for-women projects, about 60 of them which are spread across the 31 Local Government Areas of the State. The projects were co-funded by the State and the World Bank,” he said.
The State Chief Executive appreciated political parties in the State for working together to support the State Government for the benefit of the people.
He expressed delight that he is a Governor for all parties, assuring them of his administration’s support and partnership, for the greater progress and growth of the State.
Preaching on the theme: “And the shout of the King is among them” culled from Numbers 23:21, Bishop (Dr.) Josephine Eggah of the New Birth Bible Church in Uyo, noted that a king does not just shout, but he shouts to establish his influence, power, and deliver good things to his people.
Eggah admonished Christians and people of the State to stand still for the shout and voice of the Lord reigns mightily in the land of Akwa Ibom for the good of the people.
In his closing charge, the Chairman of the State Christian Leadership Advisory Council, and Archbishop of Calabar Metropolitan Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev. Joseph Ekuwem, enjoined everyone to keep on supporting the administration of Governor Umo Eno for the overall betterment of the State.
The interdenominational service which featured sessions of inspirational praise, worship, choir ministrations, and prayers, was graced by members of the State Executive Council, clergies, members of the political class, and Christian faithful across the State.
