TEACHERS RECEIVE N1.2 BILLION WARDROBE ALLOWANCE … NUT, ANCOPPS, AOPSHON PRAISE GOV. UMO ENO

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, on May 17, 2024, during the inauguration of the reconstructed CKS and Ewet Offot Model Schools in Uyo, promised to pay a one-off wardrobe allowance to all public primary and secondary school teachers in the state.

Fulfilling this promise, which amounted to N1.2 billion, the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Akwa Ibom State wing, in a letter referenced NUT/AKSW/GM.03/VOL.9/02 dated August 19, 2024, along with the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPPS), referenced ANCOPSS/AKS/GH/24/3, and the Association of Primary Schools Head Teachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON), have expressed their immense gratitude to the Governor.

These letters, addressed to His Excellency through the State Ministry of Education, commended the Governor for his pragmatic leadership as encapsulated in the ARISE Agenda, particularly for the advancement of the education sector.

Teachers, students, and pupils across all public primary, secondary, and technical schools are deeply encouraged by the benevolence of the State Chief Executive. This includes, the provision of ARISE customized exercise books, payment of backlogs of outstanding leave grants to primary school teachers, payment of the “N20,000 Civil Service Bonus” to all civil servants in the state, payment of N50,000 to all teachers as a wardrobe allowance, and the prompt payment of subventions, among other achievements.

The letters unanimously highlighted that the unfeigned commitment of Pastor Umo Eno to achieving academic excellence and ensuring the welfare of teachers, staff, students, and pupils serves as a significant motivation for all to continue striving towards success within the education system of the State.
