THE ADVANTAGE OF AKWA IBOM ALWAYS BEING BLESSED WITH VISIONARY GOVERNORS: YESTERDAY, ATTAH SAVED AKWA IBOM AGAIN!

By Borono Bassey

If you’re looking to understand how a former Governor’s vision and investment for the people who voted him to lead can outlive him in a positive way, then a reliable lens to use would be the unfortunate event that happened yesterday.

News filtered in yesterday that the National grid had collapsed at about 6:53pm, throwing the “entire” nation into darkness.

With the darkness, most Nigerians, took to social media to express their frustration with the collapse and of course, the different plagues they’ve had to face as citizens in this country.

However, people residing in Akwa Ibom State have been EXEMPTED FROM THIS PARTICULAR ORCHESTRA OF NATIONAL LAMENTATION as we are currently enjoying Power supply.

My findings show that THROUGH THE ISLAND MODE arrangement, Ibom Power Company owned by the Akwa Ibom State Government can now reserve some of the power it generates for “home” use. This explains why we still have power supply in Akwa Ibom State.

Envisioned by Former Governor Victor Attah’s administration, the Ibom Power Company is one of the audacious investments made by the Government that speaks to the power of building for tomorrow.

We must also praise successive administrations in Akwa Ibom State for maintaining this very strategic investment through the years.

This of course is the reason why every Leader must adopt a bifocal view to development – BUILD FOR THE PRESENT AND ALSO FOR THE FUTURE.

Yesterday, Attah’s vision saved us from joining the National Wailing Choir.

It’s a beautiful day. I hope you survive. Go!
