EXCERPTS FROM THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 2025 AT THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, GOVERNMENT HOUSE, UYO.

Following the swearing-in of New Commissioners and Special Advisers by the Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, the newly inaugurated State Executive Council was today duly reconstituted, with the Governor in Council presiding over the session, which began by 1pm.

Key decisions taken include:

√ The renaming of the Ministry of Economic Development, to the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, with a directive for the posting of an additional Permanent Secretary to the Ministry; with one over-sighting general duties and the other Budget, to help in aligning budgeting and planning within one warehouse to ensure effective development of the State.

√ The review of the thirty-five new projects the Governor has earmarked to be flagged off before May 29, 2025.

√ Appointment of Delivery Advisors to each of the projects to align the conceptualization to actualization, as well as create needed synergy for the flow of the projects through the various timelines.

√ Council took note of the proposed March date to flag off the proposed Maritime corridor in Oron, which will include the shore protection project, construction of jetties, ferry terminal, warehouse development, industrial cold room, and recreational facilities to help those doing business around the Maritime ecosystem.

The meeting came to an end at about 5pm.
