… lauds AKHA for passage of bill
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has assented to the N695 billion supplementary budget for the 2025 fiscal year recently passed by the State House of Assembly.
The Governor assented to the bill on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 during the Delivery Advisory Team Meeting held at Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo.
He applauded the State House of Assembly for the speedy passage of the bill which, according to him,will enhance projects implementation and delivery across the State.
Governor Eno noted that the 2024 budget recorded impressive performance and has attracted some credit to the State, stressing that 2025 should do far better.
“Let me assure the people of Akwa Ibom State that all hands are on deck and we will continue to carry out our duties with probity and dedication for the benefit of all. With the passage and signing of the supplementary budget today, we are further fired up to ensure the full implementation of government programmes and projects as contained in the budget,” he said.
Earlier, the Governor had called on Commissioners and Delivery Advisors to study the budget and ensure that appropriations to their respective areas of operations are well implemented.
He urged all project handlers to take full advantage of the dry season, and assured that the government under his leadership will remain committed to effective service delivery and not be distracted.
In his remark, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Udeme Otong said the delivery meeting was unprecedented, adding that it was a laudable innovation to bring critical stakeholders in the State to be part of delivery meeting and to share thoughts in the process.
He noted that his attendance at the meeting throughout the day was adequate oversight function for him, adding that he has equally learnt from the process.
Also speaking, Senator Effiong Bob expressed delight at the Governor’s leadership disposition, saying despite the attempts at distracting him, he remained unshaken and committed to service delivery.
He said he was happy with all the jobs rolled out in the State, adding that the Governor was doing a great job and would be greater before the end of the remaining six years.
Similarly, State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Elder Aniekan Akpan appreciated the Governor for his numerous development programmes especially the plan for tree crops development and food production.
Elder Akpan appreciated the Governor for the Ukanafun General Hospital which he said was at the completion stage, adding that the Governor’s development strides were hallmarks of good leadership.
The delivery meeting featured presentations on different areas including; implementation and business plan for tree crop development, Akwa Ibom electricity market, ARISE Senior Citizens Center, ARISE Resort, Ibom Hotel Renovation, Christmas Unplugged, Oron Ferry Boat/Jetty. Citibuses, Itam Industrial Park, Ibom Convention Center, and Ikot Ekpene International Market,
Also in the list of projects presented; House of Assembly Complex and Speaker’s Lodge, 10 Airport projects, Equipment Leasing company, Ibom Model Farm, RAAMP, Ibom International Hospital, General Hospital Ibiono Ibom, Mother and Child Hospital, and General Hospital, Ukanafun.
In attendance were; the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi; Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah; Executive Assistant/Chief Delivery Advisor, Mr Aniefiok Johnson; Head of Service, Elder Effiong Essien; State Chairman of APC, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo; members of the State Executive Council, Delivery Advisors, and other top government officials.
