NIGERIAN NATIONAL BEATEN TO DEATH in INDIA — COMMISSION DEMANDS ACCOUNTABILITY

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has condemned the killing of a Nigerian national, Emeka Christian, in Pune, India, describing the incident as tragic and senseless.

Christian was reportedly beaten to death by two fellow Nigerians, Chukwudi Okafor, 31, and Samuel Eze, following a romantic dispute.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday, NIDCOM Chairperson, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, extended condolences to the family of the deceased and called on Indian authorities to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation.

“NIDCOM calls on the relevant Indian authorities to ensure justice is served without delay,” the statement said.

The commission also urged Nigerians living abroad to act responsibly, noting that their behavior reflects on Nigeria’s image internationally. NIDCOM emphasized peaceful conflict resolution, unity, and lawfulness as key principles for Nigerians in the diaspora.

“Violence has no place among us. Together, we can build a stronger and more responsible diaspora community,” the commission added.
