The Coastland Institute of Entrepreneurial Studies, CIES, has announced plans to train at least 1,000 graduates across the 36 States of Nigeria, as well as the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.

The group explained that the beneficiaries will be trained in ICT, hair dressing, barbing, shoe making, fashion designing and other entrepreneurial skills.

The President General of CIES, Elder Fred Obot, who disclosed this in Uyo on Monday during a joint press conference at the palace of the paramount ruler of Uyo, Edidem Sylvanus Effiong Okon, said the graduates will be issued certificates and given a start-up capital upon completion of the exercise.

Obot noted that aside the hands-on training and skills that would be acquired, the exercise will create employment opportunities for Nigerian youths, adding that such opportunities could stem the tide of crime and insecurity in the country.

His words, “The institution in addition to the training in skill acquisition will also help to create employment opportunities for Nigerian youths, eliminating the present high level of crimes and insecurity in Nigeria. It will also issue certificate and provide startup capital to its graduates. We intend to train 1,000 graduates per state per year.

He, therefore appealed to Governor Umo Eno and other well-meaning Nigerians to support the initiative so as to lift many youths out of poverty and promote the economy.

Obot noted that following the sterling performance of the governor, the Board of Directors of CIES has decided to rally behind his re-election bid and that of President Bola Tinubu and Senator Godswill Akpabio.

The paramount ruler of Uyo, Edidem Okon, commended the institute for the laudable initiative of training the youth. He added that such move will keep the youth busy and reduce crime rate.”
