SSA, DIASPORA MATTERS
In July 2023, Ms. Linda Umoh was appointed the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State on Diaspora Matters. As a representative of Akwa Ibom State in the Diaspora, she is responsible for coordinating and managing the state's diaspora affairs with multiple stakeholders, prospective investors, multi-national companies, government agencies and groups. As a trusted advisor with active engagement amongst Akwa Ibom indigenes living abroad, she also coordinates sensitive projects among humanitarian and philanthropic organizations.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
• Ensure that individuals in the diaspora can contact the Office, become aware of its aims and objectives, services provided, upcoming events, etc…
• Engage potential investors
• Provide fact-based information on the Akwa Ibom State government's initiatives and accomplishments to the international community
• Leveraging social media platforms
• Attending and speaking at events with a large concentration of Akwa Ibom people
• Developing sophisticated communication channels
• Organizing strategic events to connect with the Diaspora community
• Vetting and determining prospective investors then facilitating investment deals
• Collaborating between Diaspora communities, the private sector and the AKSG
• Creating and publishing diaspora-friendly rules for business and investors
• Training potential investors on business-friendly practices in AKS which includes an A-Z guideline on topics such as how to start a business, investments processes, tourism, land/property purchase, humanitarian, and philanthropic pursuits
• Matching and linking diaspora ideas and concepts to AKSG initiatives
