The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has appointed his Sr Special Assistant on Diaspora Matters, Hon Linda Umoh, as the Akwa Ibom State Diaspora Focal Point Officer.
The appointment makes Hon Umoh the first person to hold that office in Akwa Ibom State. The State has joined the ranks of other states in the federation that have focal persons that collaborate with the Nigerian in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM).
According to its website,
“NiDCOM, headed by Honorable Abike Dabiri Erewa, was enacted by the Nigerian National Assembly to foster a relationship between Nigerian Diasporas and Nigerians at home for the growth and development of Nigeria.”
Governor Eno’s appointment of Hon Linda and his partnership with NiDCOM underscores his great appreciation of the role of Akwa Ibom Diaspora in the development of the State.
This development is in further recognition of the resources, as well as talents and skills of Akwa Ibom Diaspora as regards the overall socio-economic, cultural and political development of the State.
Congratulations, Hon Linda Akon Umoh.
