AKSG RESTATES COMMITMENT TO ENDING FLOODING.

In no distant time, flooding menace will be a thing of the past as the Akwa Ibom State Government is ready to tackle flooding challenges for residents of the state.

The Commissioner for Environment and Mineral Resources, Rt. Hon Nsikak Ekong gave this assurance, Thursday,13th March 2025, while receiving a delegation of Nsikak Okokon Resident ‘s Association in his Office.

The Commissioner who called for actions from citizens in proper disposals of waste and desilting of drains to avert flooding in the state assured that the administration of Governor Umo Eno will on its part harness available resources to bringing lingering flooding issues to an end.

Rt.Hon Ekong noted that in two years of the present administration,much has been done in the construction of roads ,provision of drainages and other environmental protection measures and waste management to curb flooding in the state.

The Commissioner who reacted to the plea by members of Nsikak Okokon Resident Association to bring an end to the flood menace which has plagued them for a long time leading to loss of lives , expressed regrets over such unfortunate incidents and pledged government ‘s action towards bringing permanent solution to it

He said that the ARISE AGENDA blueprint of securing a safe and serene environment for Akwa Ibom people will never be nipped in the bud.

He sympathized with residents of the state who have lost their lives in various floods and called on citizens to exercise patience as the government is working hard to ameliorate incidences of flooding.

The Leader of the delegation, Engr Etuk in his speech called on the state government to come to the aid of Nsikak Okokon and it’s environs, lamenting that flooding has over the years plagued and gulped lives in the area.

In a vote of thanks, Dr Imoh Ekpo expressed gratitude to Governor Umo Eno for appointing Rt .Hon Nsikak Ekong into the State Executive Council.
