AKWA IBOM STATE GOVERNMENT SENDS FOUR NOMINEES ON CHINA-AID TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR TOURISM CAPACITY BUILDING

Yesterday April 8, 2024, the Honorable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Sir Charles Udoh , bidded farewell to four selected nominees from the Ministry. These nominees will participate in a two-week China-Aid Training Programme-Seminar on Tourism Capacity Building for English-Speaking African Countries in Beijing, China. The training is set to take place from April 11 to April 24, 2024.

The Honorable Commissioner, addressing the nominees, emphasized their role as positive ambassadors for Akwa Ibom State. He highlighted the importance of speaking positively about the state and representing its rich culture and tourism potential at all times. The Commissioner urged the nominees to utilize this unique opportunity to learn and grow in their understanding of the tourism industry.

During the send-off ceremony, the Commissioner also made the government’s Tourism Blueprint known to the nominees. This blueprint outlines the state’s goals, policies, and strategies aimed at enhancing the tourism sector. By sharing this information, the Commissioner aimed to foster a sense of direction and purpose among the nominees during their time abroad.

Expressing his gratitude, the Honorable Commissioner thanked the Government and People of The People’s Republic of China for offering this valuable opportunity. He specifically acknowledged the contributions and support of His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, for facilitating this training program.

The Director of Culture, Mr. John Offiong, who is covering the duties of the permanent secretary, was present during the formal send-off. Additionally, directors and other staff members from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism were in attendance to show their support and encouragement.

As the four nominees embark on this training program, the expectations are high for them to gain insights, acquire new skills, and establish international connections that will contribute to the growth and development of the tourism sector in Akwa Ibom State. Their experiences and knowledge gained from the China-Aid Training Programme-Seminar on Tourism Capacity Building are expected to have a positive impact on the state’s tourism industry upon their return.
