Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State and Coordinator, Office of the First Lady AKS, Mrs. Helen Eno Obareki, on Thursday, October 24, 2024, hosted women from across the state to the October edition of the Women Prayer Service, being her first since assumption of office.
The service tagged: ‘The Glory of God’, was held at the Government House Banquet Hall, Uyo.
The Coordinator in her remarks, thanked Akwa Ibom women for their words of condolences and support to the family, pledging to continue with the legacy of the First Lady, Pastor Patience Umo Eno.
While admitting that the shoes left behind by her mother, the Governor’s Wife are enormous, Mrs. Obareki solicited the support of the women to ensure that she succeeds in her assignment as Coordinator of the office of the First Lady, urging Akwa Ibom women to continue to pray for the Governor and the State.
“Yes, our mother has gone to be with the Lord, but this event continues to hold every month. I encourage you to continue to come out. The service was not about Her Excellency, it was about standing in the gap for Akwa Ibom State as women. I want to encourage you to please find time out of your busy schedule, to come out and let’s continue to keep the fire burning as we commit Akwa Ibom State into the hands of God.”
“These are big shoes for me to fill. But I know that with the support of each and everyone, it will be easy and we will do this together. So I, and indeed my entire family, covert your prayers at this time and I know that God who has started a good work, will be faithful to complete it till the end,” she remarked.
The Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, in her remarks to the congregation, said Akwa Ibom women had reasons to be grateful to God for His blessings on them and upon the State.
She noted that despite the sorrow that had befallen the state following the demise of the First Lady, God had given the Governor the great wisdom to hand over the sceptre of leading the women and continuing in her footsteps to the first daughter of Akwa Ibom, Mrs. Helen Eno Obareki.
Dr. Eyakenyi while pledging her total support to Mrs. Obareki, also called on the women to offer their total respect, submission and support to the Coordinator, Office of the First Lady of the State in order to ensure that she succeeds in her new role.
In her exhortation on the topic “The Glory of God” drawn from Numbers 14:21, Pastor Idongesit Essienobong reminded Christians that as redeemed of the Lord, they are called to show forth the Glory of God in all aspects of their lives, charging them to eschew all forms of unrighteousness, ungoliness and filthiness in order to break barriers, limitations, reign on earth and manifest God’s glory at all times.
During the service, the Dynamic Mothers Initiative made a presentation honouring the Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Helen Eno Obareki. Additionally, they presented an award to both the Deputy Governor and the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare.
Thanksgiving prayers were offered to God, along with intercessory prayers for mercy, peace and the progress of the State.
The service brought together women from the three Senatorial Districts of the State and included sessions of testimonies, hymns, praise, and worship. A special segment of the event featured a thanksgiving session by women celebrating in October, as well as performances by the Government House Divine Voices.
