Canada-based Nigerian urges international standard in governance

A Canada-based Nigerian, Princewill Ogban, has declared his intention to contest in Cross River State for a seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the next general elections.

Ogban, who hails from Biase Local Government Area of the state, described his decision as part of a broader effort to contribute to governance and grassroots development in the constituency.

Speaking during an interaction with journalists on Tuesday in Calabar, Ogban emphasised his desire to bring international experience and fresh perspectives to governance, particularly in addressing issues of development, youth empowerment, and infrastructure in his constituency.

He said, “Living abroad has exposed me to systems that prioritise accountability and effective service delivery. I intend to replicate what we have in countries like Canada, United Kingdom and even USA, if elected.

“It is my desire to bring international experience and fresh perspectives to governance, particularly in addressing issues of development, youth empowerment, and infrastructure in his constituency”, he added.

Ogban also pledged to focus on improving education, healthcare, and economic opportunities for residents of Biase/Akamkpa Federal constituency, stressing that the constituency deserves better representation at the federal level.

“Our people deserve better representation. I can tell you that the incumbent member is not doing well. If given the platform, I will attract development in all facets”, he said.

He added that under his watch, youth cooperatives would be established across wards to mobilise funding, build skills, and facilitate exposure to international markets.
