#EndBadGovernment Protest: Essien Udim Council Boss Commends A’Ibom Youths for Believing in Gov Umo Eno …canvasses support for ARISE Agenda

Following the ongoing End-Bad-Government Protest, the Transition Chairman of Essien Udim, Dr. Anthony Luke, has commended Akwa Ibom youths for honouring Governor Umo Eno’s call to shun the protest and support his administration’s ARISE Agenda for sustainable development in the state.

Dr. Luke urged the organizers of the protest to guard against the hijacking of the demonstration by criminal elements whose intentions are to destroy public facilities and loot people’s wares.

According to him, Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE Agenda is yielding dividends in social intervention, agricultural renaissance, rural development, infrastructural development, education, and youth/human capacity development in the state while calling for the people’s support and cooperation for the Governor to achieve more for the state.

The Chairman stated this at the funeral mass in honor of Late Madam Martha Michael Afangideh at Christ the King Catholic Parish, Odoro Ikot, on Friday, August 2, 2024.

Dr. Luke urged those protesting to be law-abiding while exercising their constitutional right to protest, stressing that his administration in Essien Udim will not tolerate any form of destruction or criminal activities in the guise of protest in the area.

While stating that Governor Umo Eno is committed to poverty alleviation in the state, Dr. Luke encouraged youths to take advantage of the governor’s back-to-farm initiative to improve their lives and reduce hunger in the land.

He added that Akwa Ibom State and Essien Udim people in particular have no business protesting as they are major beneficiaries of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration through the emergence of Senator Godswill Akpabio as the President of the Senate. “Instead of protesting, we can galvanize support for our brother, the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio and our compassionate Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, to attract more development to the area through progressive partnerhip,” he remarked.

Dr. Luke also sympathized with the family of Obong (Sir) Michael Afangideh on the demise of their wife, mother and grandmother, Madam Martha Michael Afangideh and prayed for God to fill the vacuum her departure has created in the family and community in general.
