The Akwa Ibom State Executive Council meeting which was held on Monday, 26th May, 2025 was presided by the Governor in Council, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD.
The meeting considered various items, such as review of memos and conclusions from previous council meetings as well as directives on expected compliance, which include:
1. The Agricultural sector was reviewed, and the Commissioner for Agriculture, and indeed, the Ministry of Agriculture, was asked to present a detailed report on the full investment value chain and other items such as Cocoa Development and seedlings distribution to farmers in the State.
2. The Ministry of Agriculture was also directed to report the full business plan for inclusive social benefits on the vegetable greenhouses project as the government intends that the greenhouses be put to proper use to ensure it yields expected benefits to the people of Akwa Ibom State.
3. Council directed the Commissioner for Youth Development to present a detailed roadmap detailing how to harness and develop programs that will continue to enhance the potentials of young people in the state and create opportunities for them to be actively involved in socioeconomic activities that would better their livelihood.
4. The Ministry of Youth Development was also directed to take a critical review of the NYSC Orientation Camp, Ikot Itie Idung and ensure that appropriate recommendations are made for the upgrade of the facility in the interest of the Nigerian children that come there for NYSC yearly.
5. Exco also reviewed a memo presented by the Executive Assistant to the Governor on additional operational guidelines for procurement of goods, works and services by the Akwa Ibom State Government and directed the Ministry of Justice and the Office of the Governor to come together and harmonize the available guidelines and framework to ensure that we have a working document that will enhance seamless procurement processes in the State.
6. Other items were looked at such as the ongoing projects in the state particularly in this second anniversary of the administration and the ongoing commissioning of projects that will continue till June 30th.
7. His Excellency the Governor is delighted with what is going on and positive reactions from people of the state in appreciation of the work done so far in the last two years.
