The review meeting on the 2025 budget estimates of the Akwa Ibom State Government which held from 21st- 23rd October, 2024 was presided over by His Excellency the Governor, Pastor Umo Eno. In attendance were, Her Excellency, the Deputy Governor, the Secretary to the State Government, the Head of the Civil Service, Executive Assistant/Chief Delivery Advisor to the Governor, Honourable Commissioners and Special Adviser, Chairmen of Boards and Commissions, Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Extra-ministerial Departments.
The Commissioners and Heads of Agencies presented their proposed budget. The presentations were extensively deliberated upon, with particular focus on the proposed sums, intended benefits, and expected delivery timelines. A reprioritization template was applied to determine the projects that are important and urgent only, for inclusion in the proposed budget.
The aim of this meeting, as stated by Governor Umo Eno, “is to ensure the conformity of the proposed budget with the ARISE Agenda and to achieve a high budget performance. A budget is a very critical document for any organization. If the budget is not right, the implementation cannot be right. This is an opportunity for all our critical team members to contribute to the direction of the administration for next year.”
At the conclusion of the meeting, representatives of Heads of Planning, Research and Statistics, Permanent Secretaries, and Commissioners, appreciated the Governor for using such an educative and inclusive approach to budget making.
