EXCERPTS OF THE MEETING OF THE STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL OF THE GOVERNMENT OF AKWA IBOM STATE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, 3RD APRIL, 2024 AT THE EXCO CHAMBERS OF THE GOVERNOR’S OFFICE

INTRODUCTION

The Governor presided over the meeting which commenced by midday. In attendance were, HE the Deputy Governor, the Secretary to the State Government, the Head of the Civil Service, Honourable Commissioners, and Special Adviser.

Opening Remarks

The Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno welcomed members to the meeting and intimated that the meeting will undertake an extensive review of Ministerial projects, programmes, and policies, in order to evaluate performance.

Business of the Day

1. Ministerial review has commenced with different ministries presenting the state of projects, programmes and policies executed by them. The review will continue in the meeting.

2. Interim Report on Ibom Power Company Limited by Savannah Energy Ltd The Managing Director of Savannah Energy Ltd presented an interim Technical Audit report highlighting critical internal and external issues hampering the progress of the company. Council discussed the report and charged the company to submit a comprehensive and final report, to enable a concrete decision on the way forward.

3. Report on Dakkada Skills Acquisition Center
The Consultant, Mr. Churchill Udoh presented the report indicating the faculties that are ready for commencement. The report was deliberated and forwarded to a sub-committee for further deliberation.

4. The Council received a memo proposing an increase in the Pension of pensioners who retired before 2012. The memo was deliberated and referred to HC-Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for consultation with the Local Government Areas. Decision to be taken by next week.

5. The Council was briefed by the HC-Culture and Tourism that Four staff of his Ministry will be participating in the 2024 China-Aid Training Programme Seminar on Tourism Capacity Building for English-Speaking African Countries from 11th-24th April 2024
