A’Ibom poised for economic growth as former President Goodluck Jonathan collaborates on LNG Plant project with AKSG

In a notable development today at Government House, Governor Umo Eno welcomed former President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, currently in Akwa Ibom for discussions on an economic venture with investors aimed at constructing a Liquified Natural Gas Plant in the State. The proposed site for the LNG plant is set to be in close proximity to the Ibom Industrial City, Ibom Deep Seaport, and Liberty Free Trade Zone.

Accompanied by a team from Preheat Energies, Dr Jonathan emphasized the necessity of transitioning from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources due to climate change. He highlighted Akwa Ibom’s potential, peace, and promising future, endorsing it as an ideal location for the envisioned project. The former President expressed his trust in Governor Umo Eno’s ability to oversee the successful completion of the initiative.

Governor Umo Eno, in response, revealed the allocation of land for the Gas Plant and instructed the Commissioner for Lands to initiate collaborative efforts with the visiting delegation to ensure a smooth commencement of the project.

This promising development marks a significant step towards enhancing the state’s economic landscape.
