GBV: VIOLENCE OF ANY KIND IS NOT ACCEPTABLE IN A’IBOM – GIFA WARNS, SAYS PRISON IS THE NEXT HOME FOR CULPRITS

The Golden Initiative For All (GIFA) has warned against violence of any kind, saying it is unacceptable in Akwa Ibom State.

The Warning was handed down earlier today by the Coordinator of the Organization, Dr Anne Abraham during the Fitness Hangout, an event organized by the Akwa Ibom State Gender-Based Violence Management Committee to mark the 2024 GBV awareness Campaign exercise in the State.

While addressing some Journalists during the event which was held at Cenotaph, along Udoudoma Avenue, Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Capital, Dr Abraham noted that rape and other forms of violence are not acceptable in Akwa Ibom State.

Hear her; “In Akwa Ibom, we ‘Say No To Rape’, or violence of any kind, either at home or anywhere else. If you see something, say something. If you have any issue with violence, call on GIFA at any point in time.”
“Prison is the next home for any culprit involved in Violence of any kind.”

The Golden Initiative For All (GIFA) is a Pet Project of Akwa Ibom First Lady, Pastor Mrs. Patience Umo Eno.

Dr Ann Abraham who described the theme of the event, “Implementing the Akwa Ibom State violence against persons prohibition Law 2020: From awareness to action”, as apt, stressed that the Akwa Ibom First Lady is determined to fight the menace of gender-based violence which she noted is an unacceptable social vice.
She warned that culprits would be apprehended and made the face the full wrath of the law.

Apart from maternal and child healthcare, enhancing literacy and learning, improving environmental health, women empowerment, fight against diseases, care for the Elderly, care for people living with disabilities, Gender-Based Violence Prevention and Response is one of the core mandates of the Organization.
