What is life? If it does not add value and create a positive impact on the people yearning for help. This set of people abounds in our society. From Uyo to Oron, Ibeno to Ikot Abasi, Ikot Ekpene to Nsit Ubium, Nsit Atai to Ukanafun. Needless engaging in a long search. Don’t go too far.
Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State believes in a life of service to mankind. His life has always been a blessing to so many, even before he dreamt of becoming the Governor of Akwa Ibom State. So I was not surprised when the Governor directed that everyone interested in celebrating his birthday should do so by giving to the poor and vulnerable in our society.
“Whoever is generous to the poor, lends to the Lord, and He will repay him for his deed.” Proverbs 22:9
As the above scriptures imply, it is no longer news that in a special Press Release by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State on April 17, 2024, the Governor directed that his birthday be celebrated with orphans and the vulnerable as that would, in turn, become his birthday gifts.
So, today is the D-Day. All road leads to the Orphanages, Prisons, Hospitals and poor homes around us. It is wrong for a man to live only for himself and his family. The Governor has given us a veritable platform to be a blessing to people and in turn receive blessings from God.
If you know you are blessed by God, needless feigning poverty and gallivanting around such places as ‘Agbero’, touts. For even in poverty you can be a giver. There are levels of giving, but God watches the heart. No one is too small to give. It would be wrong for one to assume that the Governor is referring to Commissioners, Local Government Chairmen, Political Appointees, Boards Chairmen, Permanent Secretaries and what have you. Let love lead in Akwa Ibom State today like never before.
As you know, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State is an ordained Minister of the Gospel. Akwa Ibomites, you have received the instructions to give, give bountifully for your own blessings and reward, for whatever a man sows, that shall he reap.
Have you heard of Ibom Ignite Conferences? That is one of the platforms that Pastor Umo Eno has been using to give to the less privileged youths in Akwa Ibom State years ago before he became the Governor of Akwa Ibom State. No wonder God has elevated him to an exalted office today.
As you give to the poor and vulnerable, endeavour to send pictures to the Governor as that has been his sincere birthday wishes. Let the love flow down through the nooks and crannies of our dear State. This is the love that shall bind us together as one.
A great man was born today indeed. Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State was born to serve. He is not just serving but serves compassionately. May God bless and keep our great leader and the man of the people.
