In a heartwarming display of compassion, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has handed over a fully furnished two-bedroom bungalow to Madam Atim Udo Peter, a widow in Ikot Edebe Village, Nsit Atai Local Government Area, who, until the intervention, lived in a very debasing shelter.
Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Frank Archibong, the Governor, while handing over keys, house documents and N500,000 business support grant to support Madam Atim’s farming business, said the compassionate homes are his administration’s commitment to empower citizens living below average.
Stakeholders in the area, including the Commissioner for Housing, Otuekong Rapheal Bassey, Deputy State Chairman of PDP, Hon. Lawrence Udosen, Transition Committee Chairman, Lady Emem Ibanga, Member representing Nsit Atai in AKHA, Prince Aniefiok Attah, and Paramount Ruler, HRM Edidem Peter Effiong, expressed appreciation to the Governor for his numerous developmental projects in the area and applauded his compassionate disposition, which they said has brought hope and relief to the indigent.
In a project overview, Special Assistant to the Governor on Humanitarian Services, Prince Nsikanabasi Umoekpo, said the team searched for a beneficiary and found Madam Atim, who was without a home. He said the house is a fully-furnished two-bedroom bungalow, built to specification, with solar power, a borehole, and an external kitchen.
Responding, a visibly elated beneficiary, Madam Atim was overwhelmed with gratitude, narrating how her condition had been devastating until God brought the Governor to her aid. She thanked the Governor for changing her story and prayed for God’s continuous blessing upon him.
