HON. INIBEHE UMAH INSPECTS WINDSTORM DAMAGES IN INI LGA

…undertakes full restoration of power with new poles, wires, insulators etc

In a swift and commendable response to the recent windstorm that wreaked havoc across parts of Ini Local Government Area and some parts of Akwa Ibom state, the Executive Chairman of INI LGA , Hon. Inibehe Umah, on Tuesday, May 6, personally visited the affected areas to assess the extent of damage caused by the storm.

The windstorm, accompanied by torrential rainfall, had severely affected power infrastructure, uprooting electric poles, cutting power lines, and plunging many communities into darkness. The destruction extended from Nkwot Etok to other surrounding parts of Ini LGA.

Determined not to let the people suffer in the aftermath, Hon. Umah inspected the affected areas and also took immediate action by purchasing and deploying replacement electric poles, wires, and insulators etc. The installation of the new poles has been completed and reconnection efforts are currently ongoing to fully restore electricity to Ini LGA.

Speaking during the inspection, Hon. Umah reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to responsive governance and rural development.

“We cannot afford to leave our people in darkness or distress. Government under my watch is committed to responding swiftly to emergencies and ensuring that rural communities are not neglected in line with His Excellency Pastor Umo Eno’s ARISE AGENDA’’ he stated.

The Chairman’s proactive response has been widely praised by residents and community leaders who described the intervention as a clear example of people-centred leadership and government empathy in action.

They noted that this immediate restoration effort adds to Hon. Umah’s growing record of infrastructural strides and responsive governance in Ini LGA.
