The people of Ikot Nkwo, a community in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, are in high anticipation as Governor Umo Eno arrives today to inaugurate the state-of-the-art Model Primary Health Centre he built in the community.
The project, which he flagged off in August, in line with his ARISE Agenda, is a game changer in primary health care delivery in Nigeria.
An elder in the community, Obong Ibanga Etukudo, in an interview, said that the project was the first government project in the community since the creation of the state. “This place was a forest and it was like it would not be useful for anything but today, we are happy that the governor has built a health centre for us”.
The Model Primary Health Centre, came about after Governor Eno visited the makeshift health clinic at the Village Council Hall of Ikot Nkwo, and went on to flag off a model clinic in accordance with the specifications of the World Health Organization.
The Modern Health Center, has a maternity section, immunization section, nutrition section, delivery room, and both male and female wards.
Other facilities include an antenatal clinic, doctors’ consulting rooms, a minor procedure room, an emergency unit, accommodation for doctors, nurses and community health extension workers, and space for food demonstration.
The inauguration takes place by noon at the healthcare facility in Ibesikpo Asutan LGA.
