The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has written Governor Umo Eno, expressing their heartfelt commendation for his remarkable gesture in sponsoring 39 indigenous students on abroad scholarships. According to them, this laudable initiative has not only showcased the governor’s commitment to education but also serves as an inspiration to the great Nigerian students.
The statement which was made in a release addressed to the governor by NANS Directorate of National Education Monitoring, headed and signed by the SSA to NANS President on Education Monitoring, Comr. Usen Johnson, made available to newsmen yesterday 6th September, 2024, the association applauds Gov. Umo Eno’s exemplary leadership and dedication to the development of human capital in his state, noting that Governor Eno’s scholarship program is a testament to his vision for a brighter future for Nigerian youths.
The NANS statement reads in part: “Your Excellency, we are thrilled to acknowledge your remarkable investment in the educational advancement of 39 indigenous students through abroad scholarships. This selfless act demonstrates your unwavering commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders and change-makers in Nigeria.”
While calling on other Governors to emulate Gov. Eno, NANS further emphasized that Governor Umo Eno’s initiative has set a high standard for other leaders to follow, stating, “Your leadership has shown that education remains a top priority, and we encourage others to emulate this exemplary gesture.”
The association further expressed appreciation to their former global President of NANS and Hon. Commissioner for Information, Comr. Ini-Ememobong, Hon. Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Idongesit Etiebiet, PA to the Governor on student affairs, Comr. Wisdom Emmanuel and Chairman, State Secondary Education Board, Hon. (Mrs.) Ekaette Ebong Okon, for their unwavering commitment in interpreting the dreams of Gov. Umo Eno within the educational sector in Akwa Ibom, which the Nigerian Students have been the primary beneficiaries.
While calling on the 39 indigenous beneficiaries of the abroad scholarship to be of utmost good behavior as worthy ambassadors of NANS, charging that their pursuit for academic excellence as the emerging symbol of Governor Umo Eno’s tireless efforts to promoting education should be an inspiration for the Governor to do more.
NANS however request that Gov. Eno should make the abroad scholarship program a yearly policy program under his administration, advocating for an expansion of the number from 39 to accommodate more indigenous students in the second batch of the program, assuring of it lasting impacts both in the lives of the beneficiaries and the society, adding that it will serve as a catalyst for positive change in the country. The association strongly assures the Governor of NANS continued support and unalloyed cooperation.
