“Optimization of Emergency Medical Services” is the theme of the inaugural online Health Dialogue scheduled to take place on Sunday, November 3, 2024 starting at 7pm Nigerian time/1pm EST via Zoom under the auspices of the Office of Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Akwa Ibom Governor on Diaspora Matters in collaboration with Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Health.
Designed for members of Akwa Ibom Diaspora Healthcare Professionals and others of related discipline to optimize the State healthcare system’s response to emergencies, the Dialogue, which will be held quarterly on other areas for improvement, was approved by His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, Ph. D., Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State for the Diaspora and their counterparts in the homeland to partner with government in the improvement of access to primary and emergency health services in the state, consistent with the State Government’s healthcare policy.
The inaugural Dialogue and discussions will focus on diaspora perspectives on emergency care delivery and best practices, bench marking, monitoring, and making emergency response to health crises and trauma efficient and a model for the rest of the country.
Key speakers at the online event will be the Akwa Ibom State Honorable Commissioner for Health, Professor Augustine Umoh, Ph.D. and Dr. Nsikak Akpakpan, Principal Director at US Health & Life Sciences and Global Development as well as other key resource persons.
The projected outcomes of the dialogue, which will be interactive, include improved understanding of the Akwa Ibom State Government’s healthcare policy implementation for the benefit of its citizens, more effective strategies to improve access to healthcare services and the identification of sustainable healthcare financing mechanisms to ensure more citizens especially, the vulnerable groups, have access to quality healthcare services.
