The Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Akwa Ibom State, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, has declared her commitment to ensuring that women, especially in rural communities have access to quality healthcare in line with the Maternal and Child Healthcare thematic area of the Golden Initiative For All, GIFA.
Lady Obareki made the declaration Saturday, June 28, 2025 in Uyo, at the Unveiling and dedication of RennyCares for All Foundation, the RennyCares Skill Academy and the Launch of a book titled, “The Woman and Her Health”, written by Dr Irene Amos Udom and dedicated to the late wife of the State Governor, Pastor Patience Umo Eno.
She noted that the eight thematic areas of GIFA reflect the unwavering commitment of Governor Umo Eno and the ARISE Agenda blueprint that consistently champions robust women empowerment and improves the lives of citizens across the state, from healthcare, to education and other components of development, in order to ensure a healthier society.
The Coordinator and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of GIFA commended the author of the book, Dr Irene Udom for her focus on preventive medicines, maternal health and wellness and for honouring the legacy of Pastor Patience Umo Eno in acknowledgment of her strength, compassion in championing causes that uplift women and children through her pet project, the Golden Initiative For All, GIFA.
“This is not just a literary achievement, it is a vital contribution to the conversation that has long been over due, the prioritization of women health in our communities, our systems and our hearts.
“I wish to commend the author for infusing the pages of this book with empathy, cultural insight and an unflinching clarity that forces us to confront the health realities of women.This book does not only highlight issues, it disects them, contextualizes them and offers pathways towards understanding and action”, she added.
In her note of appreciation, the celebrator, Dr Irene Udom and her husband, appreciated guests for their presence at the event, noting that the RennyCares for All Foundation is a not for profit organisation committed to providing health education, outreach and care for underserved populations, especially women and children.
Goodwill messages were presented by a member of the Board of Trustees of GIFA, Barr. Onofiok Luke, Dr Ekpedeme Udom, Mrs Maria Ekanem, Obong Saturday Akpan and others, who all saluted the tenacity of Dr Irene Udom, in ensuring that individuals have access to basic healthcare, especially women in rural and riverine communities.
The event featured the review of the book, “The Woman and Her Health”, by Dr. Cordelia Etuk, also the cutting of the birthday cake by Mrs Irene Amos Udom, in the company of friends and family.
