The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has briefed members of the diplomatic community on Nigeria’s preparations to host the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) in Abuja

The briefing was held at the ministry of foreign Affairs in Abuja on Monday.

The briefing was attended by members of the diplomatic community, NIPR officials and other stakeholders, who gathered for the engagement ahead of Nigeria’s hosting of the 2026 World Public Relations Forum.

In his speech, Suleiman Haruna, chairman of the national planning committee, introduced the key plans for the forum, which is scheduled for November 15 to 21, 2026 in Abuja.

Haruna said the forum is themed: “Responsible Communication: The Voice of the World”, with President Bola Tinubu serving as the chief host.

According to him, the forum is expected to attract about 3,000 delegates from more than 125 countries, including professional icons, policymakers, youths, students and representatives from various sectors.

Haruna said the forum is being hosted in partnership with the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, African Public Relations Association (APRA), and NIPR.

He said the Transcorp Hilton Hotel and Event Centre in Abuja would serve as the main venue, while the University of Public Relations and Leadership in Gudi, Nasarawa state, would host one of the events outside Abuja’s main venue.

Also speaking, Moji Makanjuola, a media veteran, commended NIPR for promoting dialogue, diplomacy and stronger relationships between Nigeria and the international community.

She praised the institute’s efforts to promote women’s participation in leadership and called for greater opportunities for women and young professionals, as well as continued support for vulnerable groups.

Makanjuola said effective public relations should focus on building trust, giving people a voice and strengthening relationships.
