The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has awarded ₦10 million in grants to six Corps Members under the Farmers for the Future Programme, organised by the British American Tobacco Nigeria Foundation (BATNF) in partnership with NYSC.
NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, urged Corps Members to use their service year to explore agribusiness, commodity marketing and other viable ventures capable of creating sustainable businesses and wealth.
Nearly 3,000 Corps Members applied for the programme, with 20 finalists selected after a rigorous screening process. The finalists underwent a boot camp and pitching session before six winners were chosen, with grants ranging from ₦1 million to ₦3 million.
The beneficiaries are Dominic Olufemi (₦3m), Temitope Adewole (₦2m), Abdulwaheed Bala (₦2m), Olanike Mayungbe (₦1m), Kingsley Udoeyen (₦1m) and Lorember Lorsue (₦1m). They will also receive mentorship and support from established market operators to strengthen their businesses.
