Wife of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Patience Umo Eno has visited Aso Rock Villa in Abuja to brief the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu on the implementation of her Renewed Hope Initiative for the Elderly in Akwa Ibom and inform her of plans to replicate same every month to accommodate more elders.
The Governor’s wife informed the First Lady that the ‘ARISE Initiative’ for the Elderly, a social welfare scheme introduced by her husband will be flagged off next Wednesday.
She said the programme is to provide free medical checks and financial support of N50,000 to 500 elderly persons selected from the 31 Local Government Areas of the State.
Pastor Eno put the age of the potential beneficiaries at 65 years and above who were selected in collaboration with Chairmen, Local Government Transition Committees and other stakeholders.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu applauded Akwa Ibom Governor for keying into her vision and said it was necessary to pay attention to the elderly, who have paid their dues in life.
