PUBLIC NOTICE: UCCDA’S COMMITMENT TO A BEAUTIFUL AND SAFE AKWA IBOM

Unarguably, Akwa Ibom State is the cleanest State in Nigeria and as the age-old adage says, ‘Cleanliness is next to godliness’. Akwa Ibom people have always been known for their commitment to maintaining a beautiful environment which is essential to our well being and spiritual growth.

His Excellency, Pastor (Dr) Umo Bassey Eno is intentional about making the city a safe haven, and UCCDA is dedicated to upholding this standard.

Unfortunately, recent observations have revealed a disturbing trend. Some individuals are taking laws into their hands, disregarding city ordinances and throwing all caution to the wind by erecting again illegal structures, markets, and motor parks in areas where we had cleared. The economy is harsh but this should not be an excuse for flouting the law.

UCCDA frowns at these actions, particularly the proliferation of gas stations within residential areas and encroachment on government right-of-ways. These illegal activities not only degrade our environment but also compromise public safety.

Akwa Ibom is now a desired destination. The Yuletide season is approaching, To ensure our city remains a desirable destination, UCCDA will embark on intensive demolitions in the coming days by clearing shanties on government right-of-ways especially in major corridors of the City.

We urge all citizens to cooperate with us in our collective effort to keep Akwa Ibom clean, beautiful, and safe for everyone.

Signed:

Information Officer,
UCCDA
