The Office of Inspector General of the United States Department of Labour has listed a Nigerian man, Onoriode Ezewu, among 16 fugitives declared wanted for various alleged offences.
In a list published by DOL IG, Anthony D’Esposito, on his official X account on Wednesday, the US alleged losses linked to Ezewu’s concealment money laundering worth $1m.
The US agency shared the Nigerian’s image alongside other 15 suspects with offences ranging from money laundering and healthcare fraud to immigration fraud, theft of government funds and labour trafficking.
“The fugitives are wanted in cases involving foreign labour visa fraud, unemployment insurance fraud, labour trafficking, identity theft, money laundering, healthcare fraud, unlawful labour payments, and other crimes that harm American workers and undermine federal programs,” the statement read.
It also stated that the fraudsters allegedly stole more than $55m from American taxpayers.
D’Esposito vowed that the fugitives would be hunted down in collaboration with the White House Fraud Task Force.
