Behind Akwa Ibom’s iconic Godswill Akpabio International Stadium lies a thriving enterprise led by Glory Iniobong Ekanem, CEO of GIANT Agriprenuer Services.
Glory’s story is one of consistency, transformation, and opportunity. While she had experience in livestock and crop cultivation, it was in 2023 that she discovered the lucrative potential of the mushroom business.
Mushrooms, requiring only water, air, and shade, offer a low-maintenance yet high-rewarding venture. In Akwa Ibom, they are sold for NGN 4,000 per kilogram, and Glory’s farm regularly produces an average of 10 kilograms daily, generating NGN 40,000—sometimes even NGN 80,000. For Glory, mushrooms are not just a side business but a golden opportunity.
Her journey was pivotal at the Made in Akwa Ibom Trade Fair in 2023, where she showcased her products. At the trade fair, Governor Pastor Umo Bassey Eno announced a free Entrepreneurship Program (EAP) for vendors.
This 3-month program by IBOM LED equipped her with vital skills in business basics, record-keeping, customer relations, financial literacy, and business management. On completion, she received NGN 500,000 from Governor Umo Eno as seed funding to support her business.
