“WOW, THESE KIDS ARE INTELLIGENT”

Those were the words of the Mayor of Southwark, Naima Alli, while interacting with the second batch of the students delegation of the Akwa Ibom/United Kingdom Edutrip. She confessed that she was impressed by the wits and boldness they displayed during their interaction.

The Mayor spoke while receiving the students at the Borough’s Council Office at London Bridge Area, narrating how she arrived the UK as a refugee fleeing from war in Somalia and by God’s grace and hard work, some years later, she is the First Citizen of the Borough. She admonished the students to take this opportunity given to them by the Governor seriously and to study hard.

She stated that the programme was not just exceptional in all ramifications, but worthy of emulation by other leaders in Nigeria, noting the unimaginable impact that the trip has had on the students.

The students appreciated the Mayor for the time she spent with them and the knowledge shared.

The Mayor took the students on a tour of the secretariat, explaining the workings of different departments there.
