PRESS BRIEFING BY THE COMMISSIONER OF POLICE, AKWA IBOM STATE, CP BABA MOHAMMED AZARE, fsi HELD AT THE STATE POLICE HEADQUARTERS, IKOT AKPAN ABIA ON MONDAY, 14TH JULY, 2025.

Gentlemen of the Press

Today, we stand with gratitude and relief as we announce the safe rescue of a kidnap victim (name withheld) who was abducted from his home in Ikot Abasi today 14/07/25, at about 0200hrs, a deep traumatic incident.

Thanks to the swift action and bravery of our dedicated Police officers, the kidnappers were intercepted and the victim rescued unhurt along a road in Southern Annang before further harm could be done.

This rescue is a powerful reminder of what is possible when our security forces remain vigilant and committed to their duty. The success of this operation was the result of timely intelligence, quick coordination and the courage of those on the frontlines.

Let it be known that crime will not prevail in Akwa Ibom State. We will continue to pursue justice for victims and ensure the safety of every citizen. Our thoughts are with the victim and the family as they begin the process of healing.

The following items were recovered from the suspects:
1 Browning pistol
1 short machete
1 Peugot 505 Car
1 single leg of slippers
1 murano car key
Pullover used in covering the victims face
1 B1 sweater

I commend the effort of the officers and I will be presenting commendation award to the following officers: SP Kingsley Anosike, CPL Ideba Eleng and PC Nsikak Vincent for their dedication to service and humanity.

This is a victory not only for one person, but for all of us who believe in the rule of law and sanctity of human life. I reassure the residents of the Akwa Ibom State of the Command steadfast across the state.
