EWET LUXURY ESTATE TO BE COMPLETED BY MARCH 2025.

In line with the policy of the present administration to foster an enabling environment where investors come, work and live in Akwa Ibom, Government is investing in the development of a commercial luxury estate within the Uyo metropolis.

The estate, consisting of 35 residential units of 5 bedroom fully detached duplex each, replaces the timber market on Uruan Street and is billed to be completed by the first quarter of next year.

The Managing/ Director Chief Executive Officer ( MD/ CEO) of the Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP), Mr Imo-Abasi Jacob, disclosed this during the signing of the contract Agreement between the State Government and the contractor, Messrs Western Legacy Investment Ltd yesterday at the board room of AKICORP.

Mr Jacob held that the project was in line with Governor Umo Eno’s dogged drive to position the State as the preferred investment destination for business and investors arising from its ongoing initiatives. These initiatives, he continued, would hike the influx of businessmen and corporate organizations into the state. A development, he held, would stimulate more demand for high-end properties.

He held that Government was mindful of future economic realities and was proactive with investing in real estates.

Jacob maintained that the estate, with it’s modern architecture, beautiful layout and serene community would significantly improve the landscape of the State capital, upon completion even as it is hoped to stimulate private interest in the real estate sector in the state.

In addition, Mr Jacob said that with this project, about 500 Akwa Ibom persons stood to be gainfully engaged during the preliminary, construction and post- construction works.

He expressed confidence in the ability of the contractor to deliver, citing their antecedence on similar projects.

The Hon Commissioner for housing, Otuekong Ralpheal Bassey, who was represented by the Director of Architectural services, Arch Theresa Inyang, recalling that the Governor had carried out the groundbreaking of the estate earlier in the year, said that his ministry had been eager for its commencement. He commended the contractor, whom he said had so far exhibited capacity to deliver the task.

While officiating the signing of the Agreement, the State Attorney General, Uko Udom, SAN, represented by the Director, Legal Drafting, Ime Obot, gave assurances that the terms of the document accommodated the interest of both parties.

Mr Kunle Adedigba of the Western Legacy Investment Ltd, commiserated with His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno over the demise of his dear wife, assured the State Government that his company would deliver a quality job, and on record time. He affirmed that the estate project was apt as investors were drawn to the bloom of the state. He testified that Akwa Ibom people were as welcoming as they were hospitable.

Other features of the duplex include 3 living rooms, 3 maid quarters, study, fully fitted kitchen, laundry room, external terrace, expansive parking space and green area while the estate shares facilities such as water treatment plant, streetlights, CCTV, gym, children play area, etc.
