POLY Management to present 33 Academic Programmes for Accreditation, Re-accreditation, Resource Inspection/Revalidation
…Rector commend Gov. Umo Eno for support, says goal of AKWAPOLY achieving Nigeria’s best Poly status irrevocable
Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, AKWAPOLY, Ikot Osurua, Ikot Ekpene, is set to receive a delegation from the National Board for Technical Education, NBTE. The delegation will be in the state from Sunday, October 20th to Saturday, October 26th 2024, to access a total of 33 academic programmes in the State owned Polytechnic.
A release signed by the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr Moses Umobong states that 16 Academic Programmes are for Re-Accreditation, 6 for Initial Accreditation, 1 for Resource Inspection Verification and 2 for Revalidation.
According to Dr Umobong, the 16 Programmes due for Re-accreditation include, HND Computer Science, ND Science Laboratory Technology, HND (SLT) Chemistry, HND (SLT) Biochemistry, HND (SLT) Microbiology, HND (SLT) Physics with Electronics, HND Statistics, ND Business Administration and Management,!HND Business Administration and Management,!ND Accountancy, HND Accountancy, ND Office Technology and Management, HND Office Technology and Management, ND Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology, ND Architectural Technology and
Institutional Administration
The Six programmes for Initial Accreditation are, HND Elect/Elect ( Power and Machines), HND Elect/Elect (Instrumentation and Control), ND Mechanical Engineering, ND Welding and Fabrication Engineering Technology and ND Mechatronics Engineering Technology.
According to the Rector, from October 22nd to 24th, 2024, Eight (8) Academic Programmes will be subjected to Resource Inspection. They are; HND Computer Engineering Technology, HND Surveying and Geo-Imformatics, HND Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence), HND Mass Communication (Strategic Communication and Media Studies), ND Public Administration, ND Environmental Science and Management Technology, ND Marketing and ND Banking and Finance.
Similarly, HND Civil Engineering Technology will be for Resource Inspection Verification while ND Crime Management and ND Petroleum Marketing and Business Studies will be presented to the NBTE team for Revalidation from Thursday, 24th to Saturday, 26th October, 2024.
The Rector appreciated the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno for his support to the Polytechnic Community which has made the accreditation visit by the NBTE team possible, noting with delight that the Governor’s gesture is a further demonstration of the love and high premium his administration places on education and his avowed commitment to make quality education and entrepreneurship available, affordable and accessible to students and youths in the state.
He also gave kudos to the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Education, Hon Mrs Idongesit Etiebet for her supervisory and advisory role that has helped the institution achieve greater heights.
Dr Umobong also commended the Management and Staff of the Polytechnic for their dedication to duty, stating that whatever achievements the institution have recorded would not have been possible without their support, solidarity and patriotism.
He assured that the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic remain committed to surpassing it’s current record of being Nigeria’s second best Polytechnic, submitting that Management, Staff and the various Staff Unions of the institution remain resolute in ensuring that Akwapoly tops the table as Nigeria’s best and most preferred destination for Polytechnic education in the country and wished the NBTE team a fruitful and fulfilling visit and stay in Akwa Ibom State.
The NBTE visit was preceded by a pre-inspection tour by the Polytechnic Management which visited and accessed both equipments and staff of the School of Business and Management, School of Engineering, School of Communication Arts, School of Environmental Studies, School of Applied Science, and School of Enterprise Programmes, preparatory to the arrival of the NBTE delegation.
