AKWA IBOM STATE GOVERNMENT SET TO REVOLUTIONIZE TOURISM BUSINESS WITH ARTIFICIAL LAKE AT THE ARISE PARK PROJECT

As part of efforts at turning the Ravine along Dominic Utuk Avenue in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital into a Tourist Centre, the State Government is completing plans to open an artificial lake at the ongoing ARISE Park project.

The artificial lake which is currently under construction will be accessible either by boat or footbridge by visitors and tourist wishing to be served in the Restaurant to be situated at the centre of the Park as a tourism attraction.

The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Sir Charles Udoh disclosed this yesterday while appearing as Studio Guest on MIXX Radio 88.7 FM on the programme – Inside The ARISE Agenda’.

Sir Charles Udoh listed other features of the Arise Park to include: a 9-hole Golf course; a Clubhouse; Football field; Children’s arcade and a Guests Chalets, emphasizing that, Governor Umo Eno is poised at transforming the Ravine into a premier recreational destination in the State for tourists.

He stressed that with Tourism as a front burner in the ARISE Agenda, government is putting together all necessary apparatuses to booster the success of the sector, such as the development of the ‘Discover Akwa Ibom’ Website, into a comprehensive tourism portal linked to the state’s official website for the benefit of tourists and visitors to the state.

The Tourism Commissioner stated that, when fully operational, the website now under construction, will be the official platform to offer a range of verified tourism packages, including: accommodation, transportation services, restaurants, lounges, nightclubs, and more, making it easier for visitors to explore and choose their preferred options.

Speaking on the much anticipated Christmas Unplugged 2.0, Sir Charles Udoh hinted that, the content of the fiesta will soon be unveiled, promising an even grandeur spectacle.

He averred that, more guests are expected to attend the Christmas Unplugged 2.0, from neighbouring states, as there is currently a ferry service to convey visitors to the State by sea while Ibom Air remains the top choice for flying in visitors by air.

Udoh, who appreciated Governor Umo Eno for his support towards the success of last year’s Christmas Unplugged, emphasized that Akwa Ibom is positioned for more accolades and awards in the tourism sector, adding that with the 2023 Christmas Unplugged attracting awards to the Governor as the Tourism Governor of the Year and Akwa Ibom as the most active Tourism State of the year, he was optimistic that, more awards and accolades will come to the State after the Christmas Unplugged 2.0.
