GOVERNOR UMO ENO: CHANGING THE HEALTH SECTOR ECOSYSTEM ONE SPACE AT A TIME

By Dr. Ekem Emmanuel John

Friends over the last two weeks, under the guidance of the vision of His Excellency the Governor, the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Health embarked on targeted upgrade of certain critical wards and service points at General Hospital, Ikot Ekpene.

This video tells the story of the upgrade of the Accident & Emergency unit (including the reception, triage, children emergency wards, consulting rooms, call rooms, nurses rest rooms, and a standard equipped theatre).

Also delivered within this month of March is a new addition to the hospital- the Haemodialysis Unit. This is in line with His Excellency’s directive that the Ministry of Health provides these services across the federal constituencies across the state.
Equipped with three machines, a water treatment plant including the reverse osmosis for purity and an in-built safety mechanism that automatically shuts down if the water at any point becomes compromised. With the upsurge in kidney diseases, we are happy that we can offer a dialysis service at Ikot Ekpene General Hospital for the benefit of our people.

Furthermore, the Paediatric Ward has been renovated and it is our hope that it will help our children recover and spring back to health faster.

As we join our Governor in the journey to building a greater Akwa Ibom where our public institutions and society works, we trust that by the government doing so much to improve the work environment and provide better medical equipment, it will motivate our healthcare professionals (majority of whom themselves are Akwa Ibomites & thus stakeholders in the Akwa Ibom dream), to commit to greater dedication to their very valued roles as life-savers.

With your support, we will do more.
