ITEMIZING GOV ENO’S STRATEGIC IMPACTS IN THE EDUCATION SECTOR

Educational Advancement is a key component of Governor Umo Eno’s blueprint, titled; ‘ARISE Agenda’. His administration has since inception prioritized investment in the sector by holistically developing, sustaining and improving its niche.

This is because the Governor understands the strategic place of education in moving a society forward. His vision is to build a State where the people are equipped with the requisite knowledge and skills to compete and excel among their peers anywhere in the world.

Aside consolidating on the free and compulsory education policy from primary to secondary school levels, the Governor is also remodeling schools to ensure our young ones have access to quality educational facilities.

Some of his notable impacts in the sector include:

☑ Construction of CKS Primary School, Uyo

☑ Construction of a Model Primary School, Idung Offiong, Eket LGA

☑ Provision of funds for Senior Secondary Schools Examination (NECO) fresh accreditation and those due for re-accreditation.

☑ Construction of a Model Primary School In Ikot Ibritam, Oruk Anam LGA

☑ Construction of a Model Primary School, Afaha Itam, Itu LGA

☑ Construction of a Model Primary School at the Present Convent Primary School, Hospital Road, Abak LGA

☑ Production and distribution of 1,000,000 (One Million) copies of customized exercise books for pupils in public Primary Schools.

☑ Construction of St. Ignatius Primary School, Ukana Iba, Essien Udim LGA.

☑ Construction of Model Primary School along Uyo-Oron Road, Nung Atai Etta, Okobo LGA.

☑ Construction of Methodist Primary School Nkari, Ini LGA

☑ Purchase of school uniforms for 10,000 (Ten Thousand) pupils in public primary schools in Akwa Ibom State (2 pairs of uniform per pupil)

☑ Provision of funds for sewing of school uniforms for 10,000 (Ten Thousand) pupils in Public Primary Schools in Akwa Ibom State (2 pairs of uniform per pupil)

☑ Payment of bursary to students of Akwa Ibom origin studying in tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

☑ Construction of Model Primary School Ndinya Mfia, Ikono LGA

☑ Construction of Model Primary School (Calvary Lutheran School) in Ikot Abasi, Oniong, Onna LGA.

☑ Construction of Model Primary School, Ikot Oku Usung, Ukanafun LGA

☑ Payment of 250,000 each to 106 persons for 1st Phase of Education support fund for physically challenged Akwa Ibom State indigenes studying in Nigerian Tertiary Institutions

☑ Donation of Land for Federal University of Education, Ibiono Ibom.

☑ Payment of balance for the 2022/2023 WASSCE Registration fee for 39,346 State Sponsored Candidates

☑ Consistent Payment of Subvention for public Primary, Secondary and Technical Colleges in the State to address minor needs in the school and attend to emergencies.

☑ Provision of fund to offset fees of 13 Medical students who were on the verge of dropping out of medical schools.

☑ Successful screening and selection of pupils for participation in the Educational Exchange Programme with the London Borough of Southwark, will soon embark on the trip

Judging from the Governor’s perchance for quality education, it can be summed that in no distance time, the educational landscape in the state would indeed become a model Nigeria would love to emulate.

These and more are low hanging fruits from leadership that relishes in the well-being and development of the people.
