Three Persons Lose Lives in Akwa Ibom Crash

Tragedy occurred as three persons died in an auto crash involving a tipper, Diana truck and Keke tricycle along Akamba Nsukara, Nwaniba Road by Lucky Filling Station in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom.

According to Police report, two males and one female died on the spot during the accident that occurred on Monday, February 16 at 1930 hours.

Bodies of the deceased were deposited at a nearby mortuary, the report stated.

An eye witness said when brake of the tipper failed, the driver lost control and rammed into the Diana truck and Keke tricycle killing the passengers while others who sustained injuries were rushed to hospital for treatment.

In an interview with a reporter of Straightnews on Tuesday, February 17, the Public Relations Officer of Federal Road Safety Commission, Akwa Ibom Command, Mr. James Paul, confirmed the sad incident.

Paul said the ‘‘Command is relentlessly upholding its avowed commitment to safe motoring environment, through aggressive public enlightenment, intensified enforcement, and prosecution of recalcitrant traffic offenders.

‘‘The Sector Commander, FRSC Akwa Ibom, CC Francis A. Ajatta, therefore, called on all users of the roads to remain active, ensure strict adherence to traffic rules and regulations; as anyone found wanting will be made to face the full wrought of the law,’’ he added.
