USA Seeks Permission To Establish A Drone Refuelling Station In Nigeria

February 11, 2026

The United States has requested permission to establish a drone refuelling station in Nigeria as part of expanding security cooperation.

The facility would support US surveillance and strike-capable drones operating from Accra, Ghana, into Nigerian airspace.

Talks are reportedly advanced, with a North-East state designated as host, raising fresh questions about sovereignty, regional security, and the scale of America’s military footprint in West Africa.
