To verify if any government is people-centric, the agents and leaders of the said Government should maintain some level of silence on it achievements.
And allow the people to adjudicate and then eulogize if worthy or critically criticized the Government performance if found wanting.
I was listening to a radio Station on Wednesday and the panelists were evaluating the Easter’s message of Governor UMO Bassey Eno, one of the panelists said it will be the first time he listened to such a speech from any political leader and the scorecard of his performance was not part of the message.
And instead the Governor was talking about the people and how he wish to lead the people out of penury and starvation.
The panelist said he was compelled to accept that the Governor loves the people, and he is out to change the narrative of the poor masses.
Governor UMO ENO knows that a good Government all over the world has to be compassionate and passionate towards the people, and he understands that a prudent government the world over has to wear a human face.
With all Governor UMO ENO projections since he assumed office, it shows clearly that has not jettisoned his campaign promises to govern Akwa Ibom State with the people and ensure the poor are lifted out of poverty completely.
. Pastor UMO ENO is a God-fearing leader, a generous person. He is a meticulous person who believes in the eradication of poverty and insists on none negligence of the poor.
And this attributes endear him greatly to Akwa Ibom people, this is his merit as a compassionate leader and Nobody can drive away a leader with such merit.
The public’s trust in Governance is undoubtedly when you as their leader don’t turn deaf ears to the hardship the people are facing.
And the leader learned to distinguish between glitzy political rhetoric reported in traditional and social media and genuine empathy with the hardships many families face in silence.
Governor UMO ENO has not allowed the euphoria of leadership to shift his attention away from the hardship the Downtrodden are facing in the rural and urban centers in Akwa Ibom State.
He has commenced free food policy, first, he assented to the bill that established bulk food purchasing Agency, and constituted the agency with passionate members.
And he brings down the activities of the agency to the grassroots by making his Aides in the Wards across the State coordinators of the free food policy.
This programme is beneficial to both traders and the farmers, the farmers become suppliers to the traders and the traders become the vendors to the Government, who issues vouchers to the poorest through the Personal Assistant to the Governor in the wards and traders deliver the food to the poor and get paid by Government.
So, everyone benefits from the policy, the farmers have where to sell their crops or the by-products and the traders have where to quickly sell their goods and make gains, without unnecessary wastage or losses.
These programmes have made the golden Governor a talking point in every Church, parks, schools, villages or whenever you see the gathering of the masses, Governor UMO ENO has become the talking point.
The Governor’s policies are characterized by empathy and passion for the Welfare and wellbeing of ordinary people.
Pastor UMO ENO has shown other leaders in Nigeria how to lead with intellect and strength. He has demonstrated that empathy and insight are powerful leadership qualities, and in leadership the people are more important than any other thing.
Governor UMO ENO knows that problems that removal of fuel subsidies has dented the well-being of families and there is a need for the Government to invest more in their relationship with ordinary citizens by practicing empathy rather than phony public relations.
Yesterday being 2nd of April 2024, 29 local Government Areas Kicked-start the policy of free food to the poor and over ten thousand poorest families instantly benefited from the exercise.
10 kg bag of Rice, half bag of garri and a 5 kg bag of beans were given to each beneficiary.
One can see smiles in the faces of the masses while they were receiving the food items, I was a witness in Ugo and Uruan local Government Areas.
I interviewed one Mrs. Nyong Bassey , a poor widow, she said the last time she could afford to eat beans was more than a year ago.
One could see the tears of joy rolling down her chicks, and when she was told she will be receiving the items twice a month and fell to the floor with great joy and appreciation.
Beans to me are the most common protein food in Nigeria and if a family can’t afford it for over a year, it shows how malnourished the children may be.

Another human face project that will soon be launched is the free shelter for the poorest.
The administration is planing to build a hundred two-bedroom bungalows for the poor ones inhabiting in houses not suitable for animals and those who are homeless.
Governor UMO ENO is passionate in providing a life of dignity to the poor masses, who cannot afford to enjoy the necessities of life.
He is confident that he will lift the standard of living of every Akwa Ibom person to an international acceptable standard of living as proscribed by United Nations.
